Abstract

The authors examine the use of impasse procedures by New York teacher associations and school districts in the first five years (1968-72) of New York's Taylor Law to determine how the procedures affected salary settlements. It was concluded that higher salaries resulted and that overreliance on the impasse procedures was shown.
