A number of studies have sought to answer the question: "Do teacher strikes affect students?" The extent empirical evidence points to no clear and consistent relationship between teacher strikes and student achievement. In this study, ANOVA results suggested that students' test scores across a variety of standardized reading, language, and mathematics tests did not significantly differ between Ohio school districts that had at least one teachers' strike, and districts that were strike-free, during the period 1984 to 1990. OLS regression results also suggested that strikes, per se, had no impact, positive or negative, on student achievement.
