Research interest in faculty unionization has been propagated by a surge in unionization activity that has occurred as a result of the severe economic conditions of the late 1970s. These poor economic conditions had a negative impact on university faculty members, leading some faculties to turn to unionization for economic relief. Through a longitudinal study, this research article examines a recently unionized university campus with the objective of ascertaining the effect of unionization on faculty job satisfaction. Results indicated that unionization had a significant positive impact on satisfaction with pay but did not have a significant effect on other measures of job satisfaction.
